Buy a domain name

Posted In: . By Tejas Vernekar

Bored and frustrated of using free urls like yourname.blogspot.com etc. ?
You can buy your own domain name, ofcourse not for free, with some annual fee. The annual fee is not much !. It may range from $7-$15/year. Paying $10 for entire year, not a big deal, in return you get a unique personal domain name like yourname.com yourname.net etc !. You may search for free domain names and you may also get some results ! but mostly these sites will be fake, the reason is a person wont run his servers for free to provide domain names (he has to pay electricity bill, maintain his servers, etc). You may ask why there is something called free webhosting, the answer is that they may provide web hosting for free but inturn they earn by placing ads on those free sites. You promote your site and indirectly theirs too. Any ways this is out of scope of our discussion. You may come across url redirectors but these are not much efficient. You can read more about them in Start your own website. There are many other reasons you should buy a domain name, you can say its just like a key for treasure. The reasons are listed below :

- It gives proffessional look to your site.
- Visitors will trust your site.
- It helps in SEO.
- User will prefer to go to your site rather than any free site listed in search results.
- You get a personal email @yourdomain.com .
- More chances of getting selected for advertising programmes like adsense etc.

Here are some of the sites which provide Domain name services :

Godaddy.com

Have you heard about getting paid to answer questions? It may sound wierd, but there are people on web who genuinely pay for answering their questions. Questions may be something related to health, web service, pc, etc, or even homework! For eg. Suppose a person has some problem in his pc and he cannot find help anywhere on web, in this case only a real person having this knowledge can help him. Also a student for example has some important homework or an assignment, further suppose he wants a solution for a problem (maths, physics etc), its rarely possible that you can find a solution directly on web unless it is a common problem. In this case there are some websites which allow you to post and answer questions. A user in need of answer may post his/her question for some price set. He inturn will recieve number of answers from other users. He can choose the appropriate answer which satisfies him. Some sites may pay you directly to post and answer questions (price not set by users).

Here are some site listed below who serve this purpose :

Have you ever wondered of getting paid for writing posts? , isn't this cool. Its true, you get paid for writing posts. The amount they pay you differs. Some site requires your blog to be few months old also with some average posts every week.
what you need to do is write reviews about some products/services ie. you are indirectly promoting the advertisers content (the reason to get paid).

The advertisers will choose you only if you have lots of visitors and importantly a good page rank. Some sites also require you to have your own webspace hosting your own blog (wordpress) so using free blogs goes out of the list there.

These may be simple but very imortant! for eg. google does not just scan your site and rank you it also consideres how many sites contain backlinks to your site, does your site contains speling mistakes etc. so here are some points to keep in mind to increase your website visitors :

Sometimes while searching for your site, your site may be listed in top results because your site may have been added to a site with a greater PR.
When i created my blog it didtnt appear directly in google for weeks. But when i added my site to mybloglog.com it was there in google before my eyes! Again i checked for seo at seobugz.com it was there again!

Alexa rank : Your alexa rank is based on the number of visitors visiting your website. Alexa rank comes into picture when you are selling you site or an adspace on your site. Alexa.com monitors your visitors with the help of their alexa toolbar. You can get it for mozilla and Internet Explorer. To get it installed visit Alexa toolbar.
